The Cowboys now sit at 1-3, and this week, they face a 1-3 Minnesota Vikings team that will be just as hungry for a win, but the Vikings may possibly be without QB Brett Favre. Steven thinks it may be time for the Cowboys to get focused and stop committing silly penalties.

Week 5 Recap: vs Tennessee Titans

The Good:
WR Roy Williams: Williams is finally starting to play like the receivers Jerry Jones traded to get. In the past two games, Williams has caught 11 passes for 204 yards and 3 TDs. If he can perform like that week in and week out, the Cowboys will be tough to defend.

The Good – Part II:
RB Felix Jones: The Cowboys finally got the running game going with Felix Jones this week, as he rushed for 109 yards on 19 carries. I still think Jones needs to get 25 to 30 touches per game if the Cowboys are going to be successful going forward. Jones is a dynamic runner and when he finally got his chance with 19 carries, he proved he can carry the load.

The Bad:
QB Tony Romo: Not only does Romo need to protect the ball better, he needs to make better decisions with the ball. He threw three interceptions in the loss this week. It’s now how many interceptions he threw that is the problem, it’s where he threw them. The first was inside the redzone as Michael Griffin intercepted a pass intended for TE Martellus Bennett in the endzone. But his second was worse, getting picked off at the Dallas 16 yard line by Alterraun Verner that setup the Titans with a 1st and goal at the Dallas 1 yard line. Romo cannot give the opponents a short field by making poor decisions with the ball.

The Ugly:
Penalties: The Cowboys have to focus this week and avoid those costly penalties at crucial points in the game. This week the Cowboys were penalized 12 times for 133 yards. Outrageous! The worse penalty came late in the fourth quarter just as the Cowboys had scored the tying touchdown, a 18 yard TD pass from Romo to TE Jason Witten. Witten proceeded to hand the ball to offensive lineman Marc Colombo, and Colombo was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct forcing the Cowboys to kick-off from their own 15 yard line. On that ensuing kick, the Titans Marc Mariani returned the kick 69 yards and after another 15 yard penalty for a face-mask by kicker David Buehler, the Titans started with a 1st and goal on the Cowboys 6. Chris Johnson scored the winning touchdown from 1 yard out three plays later. Penalties – the Cowboys have got to be more disciplined and stop committing stupid penalties.

Steven has finally said enough is enough and brought back the show set to cover the Dallas Cowboys football season. The Cowboys find themselves in a position they have not been in since 2001 with a 0-2 start, but Steven tells you why there hope for this week at Houston and for the rest of the season. Listen up as Steven sends his positive vibes out to the team.

Week 2 Recap: vs Chicago Bears

The Good:
WR Miles Austin: Miles is becoming “Mr. Consistency” in the Cowboys offense. Austin put up another solid perfomance against Chicago catching 10 passes for 142 yards in the loss at home. Austin is proving he is worth every bit of his new contract.

The Good – Part II:
WR Dez Bryant: Although Bryant only had 2 catches for 52 yards, he provided the Cowboys with the most spectacular play of this short season. Early in the 1st quarter, Bryant took a punt and raced 62 yards for a touchdown to give the Cowboys a 7-3 lead. Bryant needs to be on the field more on the offensive side of the ball and given more targets, because as well all saw Sunday, he knows what to do with the ball once it is in his hands.

The Bad:
K David Buehler: Buehler missed another field goal this week, brining his season total to 2 out of 4. I am pretty sure the Cowboys were hoping for Buehler to be a little more accurate than 50% on field goal attempts. I say Buehler gets one more week to show that he can be counted on to be a consistent field goal kicker. If he misses again, the Cowboys need to bring in another kicker.

The Ugly:
Turnovers: The Cowboys only had three turnovers, which is great considering other teams had five to seven turnovers in some games in Week 2. QB Tony Romo threw two interceptions in the first half, but only one was his fault. The most crucial turnover happened late in the 4th quarter. The Cowboys were down 27-17 with a little less than five minuets left in the game when on 1st and 10 from the Chicago 37, Romo hit WR Roy Williams for a short gain at the Chicago 31 yard line. Instead of knowing the situation and going down to make it 2nd and 3, Williams tried to gain more yards and he was wrapped up driven backwards and stripped of the ball and the fumble was recovered by Brian Urlacher, all be sealing the victory for the Bears.

The Cowboys have to focus this week and avoid those costly turnovers at crucial points in the game to avoid falling to 0-3 this week at Houston.

For only the second time this season, the Cowboys lose, going down at the hands of last years NFC East Champs, the Philadelphia Eagles. Steven recaps the game and this time, the Fat Lady Sang early thanks to the smart play of Eagles RB Brian Westbook. The Cowboys offense struggles all day long and Tony Romo looks bad especially after he injured the thumb on his throwing hand.

In Cowboys news, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders head off to support our troops at the 65th USO Tour. Safety Roy Williams has been suspended for one game. Williams appealed the suspension, but it was upheld today. Here are the Panthers, still fighting for their playoff lives. How will the Cowboys handle this late season adversity.

The Good:
TE Jason Witten: In a game where not much went right for the Cowboys, Witten posted 8 catches for 113 yards. Week in and week out, Witten just gets it done.

The Bad:
QB Tony Romo: Romo has done almost nothing wrong this season, but against the Eagles he was not himself. For the first time in 17 straight games, Romo was held without throwing a single TD pass. He finished the game with 13 of 36 passing for 214 yards and no TDs with 3 INTs.

The Ugly:
SS Roy Williams: Williams was flagged for an illegal “horse collar” tackle against Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. This was his third such personal foul penalty called against him this year, earning him a one game unpaid suspension. Williams needs to remove this bad habit from his playing days.

Congrats to the Dallas Cowboys who clinch the NFC East Division Title by virtue of their 28-27 last minute comeback against he Detroit Lions. Steven recaps the game and says it isn’t over until the Fat Lady Sings! The Detroit Lions gave the Cowboys all they could handle, but in the end, TE Jason Witten catches the game winning touchdown pass from Tony Romo to atone for his fumble earlier in the game.

In Cowboys news, the Cowboys open up a waiting list for season ticket holders for the new stadium, WR Terry Glenn hits the practice field, CB Terrance Newman stays off the practice field and Terrell Owens has some words for ESPN’s Keyshawn Johnson.

The Good:
TE Jason Witten: Not only did Witten catch the game winning TD with 18 seconds left in the game, Witten became the first tight end to catch 15 passes in a single game since Kellen Winslow Jr. in 1983. Witten finished the game with 138 yards and that 1 TD.

The Bad:
Run Defense: The Cowboys defense was only allowing 80.2 yards per game to opposing offenses prior to the Lions game and they allowed the usually inept Lions rushing attack to net 152 yards on the ground. The defense will have to stiffen up as they face Brian Westbrook and the Eagles this week.

Steven recaps the 37-27 beating of the Green Bay Packers. Brett Favre gets knocked out of the game and QB Tony Romo continues to have a fantastic season, earning him NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year.

In Cowboys news, the Cowboys vs Packers game becomes the highest rated cable TV show in 14 years. Not bad for a game that was not available to as many people as should have been. Plus Steven gives a preview of the upcoming game between the Detroit Lions. Steven says he would not trade places with Lions QB Jon Kitna for all the alcohol in Ireland.

The Good:
QB Tony Romo: if not for a Terell Owens bobbled pass in the end zone causing an INT by Al Harris, Romo would have been perfect, throwing 30 times and completing 19 passes, 4 of them for TDs. Romo now has 33 touchdown passes making him the Cowboys single season TD pass leader.

The Bad:
2 minute defense: Once again, the Cowboys allowed points right before the half. After taking a 27-10 lead, the defense allowed the Packers to go 74 yards on 8 plays to cut the lead to 27-17 just before the half.

The Ugly:
Finishing Off A Team: The Cowboys need to improve on finishing teams off. They need to get back to that killer instinct they had earlier in the season and put teams away when they have a chance.

The Cowboys 34-3 Thanksgiving beat down of the New York Jets give them a 10-1 record for the first time EVER. Steven recaps the turkey day game and hands out not one, but two Game Balls! One on offense to RB Marion Barber and one on defense to CB Terrence Newman.

In Cowboys news, Owner and GM Jerry Jones talks about the Thursday Night Game on NFL Network and his role in trying to bring the Network and the cable companies closer together. I think he takes a shot, but he covers himself pretty good.

The Good:
RB Marion Barber: 103 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown gives him a game ball. Not just for running over 100 yards, but for running the ball effectively in the second half when the Cowboys were trying to run out the clock.

The Good: Part II
CB Terrance Newman: I believe that Newman is almost at 100% with his foot and is starting to play like the corner we know. That interception he returned for 50 yards was a thing of beauty. Newman had a perfect break on the ball and he showed his speed and outran everyone to the end zone. Something he could not do in Week 5 during the Buffalo Bills game when he intercepted Bills QB Trent Edwards. Healthy is good!

The Bad:
2 minute defense: Right before the half, the Cowboys allowed the Jets to march down the field on a 13 play drive that setup a 40 yard Mike Nugent FG. I know I am being a bit picky here, but that drive should never have resulted in points.

The Ugly:
4th quarter defense: Are you kidding me? No ugly this week, as the Cowboys dominated the game from start to finish.

The Cowboys improve to 9-1 for the first time since 1983 with their third win against a division opponent in as many weeks. The Cowboys now have a date with destiny as a win over the NY Jets on Thanksgiving will give the team their first every 10-1 start to a season in franchise history.

In Cowboys news, WRPatrick Crayton is nursing an injury and may not play against the Jets, while WR Terrell Owens’ is gets the weekly honor of being named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week after catching four touchdown passes against the Redskins

The Good
WR Terrell Owens: I said it last week, Owens saying less and doing more on the field! Terrell Owens is torching secondaries right now, and this week it was the Redskins as he posted 8 catches for 173 yards and 4 TDs. Each TD was got longer and longer, with TDs of 4, 31, 46 and 52 yards.

The Bad:
Roy Williams: I don’t want it to appear as if I am picking on Roy Williams, but that 1st quarter TD pass caught by TE Chris Cooley should never have been caught. Roy turned the wrong way, something he does often in coverage and allowed Cooley to cut inside to a wide open middle of the field.

The Ugly:
4th quarter defense: After taking a fourth quarter 28-16 lead, the Cowboys should have closed the door on the Redskins. Instead, the defense allowed the Skins, to go on a four minute, five second 12 play drive that resulted in a Santana Moss touchdown. The defense needs to step up to stop teams when the offense has worked hard on the field to build a sizable lead.

The Ugly: Part II
Center Andre Gurode: If the Cowboys are going to continue to use the shotgun formation, Gurode has got to get better at snapping the ball. Four times the ball sailed over Romo’s head and several other times, it was high enough that Romo needed to leave his feet to secure the snap. Come on Andre – FOCUS!!!

I am just going to tell you right now, the media is gushing over the Cowboys right now, and so am I. Back to back road games against division rivals and the Cowboys beat down the New York Giants 31-20 to sweep the season series. I break down that victory which keeps the Cowboys alone atop the NFC East at 8-1 and tied with the Green Bay Packers in the NFC.

In Cowboys news, QB Tony Romo’s No. 9 jersey is the No. 1 selling jersey in the NFL, while WR Terrell Owens’ No. 81 is at #6 and FS Roy Williams’ No. 31 is at #9.

The Good
WR Terrell Owens: Is it just me, or is Owens saying less and doing more on the field? You got to hand it to Terrell Owens, when he focuses, he is pretty unstoppable. He torched the Giants secondary with 6 catches for 125 yards and 2 TDs, his longest, the second of the day, a 50 yard TD strike that silenced the hostile New York crowd and put a nail in the Giants coffin. That was also his fourth TD of the year against the Giants.

The Bad:
Roy Williams for Allowing Jeremy Shockey to have a big day: There are some players you just don’t like, and then there are players you hate! Shockey is one of those players and I just hated him having a big game against the Cowboys. He had 12 catches for 129 yards and 1 TD. Most of that yardage and that TD were put up against Williams.

The Ugly:
Personal Foul Penalties: LBs Bradie James and Kevin Burnett helped the Giants put some points on the board with their personal foul penalties. James had a 15-yard penalty against RB Brandon Jacobs and that help set up Jeremy Shockey’s 8-yard TD. Burnett’s penalty for taunting, happened in the final seconds of the 1st half, allowing the Giants to get into FG range as Lawrence Tynes was able to kick a game-tying FG just as the half ended.

With Eagles QB Donovan McNabb saying the NFC East title goes through Philadelphia, the Cowboys showed up at the Linc and ran all over the road trouncing the Eagles 38-17.

In Cowboys news, the Cowboys lost their team chaplain John Weber, who passed away last Thursday afternoon after suffering a heart attack. Tank Johnson was activated to the roster after his 8 game suspension was lifted and the some Cowboys players go out and do some good in the community, as they helped serve an “early” Thanksgiving dinner to more than 200 men and women at the The Salvation Army’s homeless shelter in Dallas.

The Good:
The Offense Striking Early: For only the second time this year, the Cowboys offense scored early getting not one, but two TDs in the 1st quarter against the Eagles. The first TD came after McNabb fumbled on the first play from scrimmage, and the second TD came on the Cowboys 2nd possession, just after the Eagles had tied the score 7-7.

The Good: Part II
WR Terrell Owens: Owens came back to Philly not just a self proclaimed captain as head coach Wade Phillips made him a captain for this game. T.O. delivered and earned this weeks game ball with his 10 catch, 174 yards and 1 TD performance.

The Bad:
Garbage Time: What happens when you get a huge lead, and you don’t want to rub it in the face of your opponent? Your opponent gets to put some yards up against your defense in garbage time. The Eagles, being down 38-10 did manage to score a meaningless TD late in the game, and RB Brian Westbrook caught 7 of his 14 receptions late in the 4th quarter when the game was no longer in question.

The Ugly:
Injuries: The Cowboys lost rookie fullback Deon Anderson. Anderson was placed on IR after this game as he suffered a torn rotator cuff against the Eagles.

Back from London, Steven puts a nice and quick show talking about Tony Romo’s BIG FAT contract extension! Jerry Jones is gave Romo a $11.5 million signing bonus and $67.5 million over six years, and the deal includes $30 million guaranteed. Not bad for an undrafted free agent!

Steven also talks about the Cowboys on the preliminary list for the Hall of Fame Class of 2008. Jerry Jones, former coach Jimmy Johnson, TE Jay Novacek, DE Charles Haley and DE Ed “Too Tall” Jones are on the list among other former Cowboys.

The talk then focuses to what the Cowboys have to do against the Eagles to make sure they come out of Philadelphia with a win. Look for TE Jason Witten to have a huge day and for the defense to put lots of pressure on McNabb.
